Derma Laser

Vascular Laser (V Beam Laser)

Another innovation, this laser is absorbed by blood vessels in the skin which are therefore coagulated and abolished, Indications are:

  •          Red birthmarks: hemangiomas, portwine stains

  •          Broken capillaries: sides of the nose or anywhere else in the skin

  •          Leg veins (varicose veins), Facial Veins

  •          Red spots that usually appear over the chest or back (cherry angiomas)

  •          Psoriasis

  •          Warts

  •          Scars: red scars and keloid scars can be highly improved with the laser. Older skin colored scars respond less favorably

  •          Stretch marks: best treated when recent and still red.

And some purely cosmetic indications are: treatment of wrinkles without need for surgery or peels and without any side effects or down time. Improvement is gradual and is highly suited for those who have a busy life style and can not afford staying at home for a week after a peel. You can continue to wear your makeup and go on with your life as if nothing is done. Candidates for this treatment are those with the above criteria as well as those with realistic expectations and patience. This procedure is highly gaining favor worldwide over laser resurfacing. If is called “nonablative laser rejuvenation”.

Pigment Laser (Medlite Laser)

The latest addition to our expanding cosmetic and state of the art dermatology department, this medlite laser, which works at 2 wavelenghts 532 nm and 1064 nm, is an excellent laser to treat effectively and quickly several conditions, some of which are listed below. This laser light is absorbed by the pigment and subsequently scattered in to very tiny particles that are washed away by the blood and lymphatic systems.

Tatoos: Whether old or new, amateur or professional, or due to an accident (Ex: penetrating injury by pencil that leaves a gray tattoo inside your skin or car accident or gun shot wounds with small pieces of asphalt or gunpowder implanted in the skin). Blue / black tattoos, fairly recent tattoos, and amateur tattoos respond better than green / yellow / orange tattoos, very old tattoos, and professional tattoos: however, all can be effectively cleared with this new technology. Cosmetic tattoos (eyeliner, lip liner), which have tan or red colors, have a poor response. Your doctor might need to test the area first with the laser before treating the whole tattoo to see the response. Number of treatments to clear varies from 2-8 depending as mentioned earlier on the type and color of tattoo.

Brown birthmarks: These usually appear at or soon after birth and may be tan brown (Café au lait macule), speckled or freckled (Nevus spilus), a brown patch over shoulder of young men usually with hairs (Becker’s Melanosis), or bluish patches usually around eyes (Nevus of ota).

Skin colored moles: Cannot be treated with the laser. If your mole shows any suspicious changes that are suggestive of early cancerous transformation, your doctor will definitely advice you to remove it. Only small complete benign looking moles are treated with laser.

Laser Hair Removal
Gone are the days of the painful and troublesome waxing, shaving, plucking, and bleaching of unwanted hair. A revolutionary technology, this laser light is absorbed by the pigment (color) present within the hair root, effectively heating up the surrounding area and permanently destroying the hair follicle. Therefore, after several laser sessions PERMANENT results can be achieved. Some guidelines are:

  • White and blond hairs do not respond to laser. The darker and thicker the hair, the faster it will respond.

  • An average of 3 to 6 sessions, spaced 1 month apart, are recommended to achieve the final result. Usually the face requires more sessions than other parts of the body like underarms and bikini, which responds beautifully and fast.

  • You must avoid tanning before, during, and for few weeks after the laser treatment. A sunblock with SPF is at least should be used.

  • Darker skinned individuals can also be treated. Our laser, with its unique DCD (Dynamic Cooling Device) emits a cold spray before each laser pulse, thereby protecting the skin and targeting the laser into the hair follicle, thereby preventing harmful side effects of skin darkening or lightening. Even if these do occur, they are temporary and can be treated. We have effectively and safely treated black individuals with no side effects.
